IT Internship — DSCI, Quimper
Company presentation
I completed my first BTS internship at the DSCI (Direction Communautaire des Systèmes d'Information), based at Quimper's technical centre. Quimper is a city in Bretagne, France. The DSCI manages IT for Quimper and partner municipalities such as Pluguffan — town halls, libraries, municipal police, council services, and more.
My workspace
Compact Lenovo Tiny workstation (Core i3, 8 GB RAM, 250 GB SSD), Logitech mouse, Philips screen, and a CubiQ switch to plug peripherals into different machines without rewiring everything each time.
Missions
1. Windows 10 installation on a new laptop
Deployed Windows 10 and office software on a laptop for library staff — PowerPoint, Outlook, PDF tools, VLC, LogMeIn. Tracked progress with Trello.
2. On-site troubleshooting at a primary school
Projector: EPSON unit shutting down — replacing twisted HDMI/USB cables solved the issue.

Hard drive: Replaced a faulty 1 TB drive in a classroom desktop.

3. Preparing IT donations for associations
Inventory and packing for Linux Quimper and the Vieilles Charrues festival. Swapped SSDs for HDDs and securely wiped old drives.

4. Remote support — GLPI & LogMeIn
Fixed missing desktop shortcuts via remote session and resolved DNS issues with ipconfig /flushdns and ipconfig /release.

5. Updating the inactive computer fleet
Listed inactive machines in Excel and GLPI, PowerShell ping script, then softphone calls to reconnect devices.
6. Hardware installation on site
Installed workstations at Briec vaccination centre, a second screen at Quimper museum, and a laptop at Athéna concert hall.
